Fill your pockets with salt and iron. Carry a rowan staff and a silver chain. And most importantly, clear your mind and conquer your own fear. Memorize what to do if you face the Fiend himself. If you are the seventh son of a seventh son—or even if you are simply a fan of The Last Apprentice series—this book holds all you need to face the forces of evil. The Last Apprentice series is soon to be a major motion picture, Seventh Son, starring Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Alicia Vikander, Kit Harington, Olivia Williams, Antje Traue, Djimon Hounsou, and Julianne Moore as Mother Malkin. It's a suspenseful thrill ride that's "spine-tingling" (Publishers Weekly) and "anything but tame" (Horn Book). BUT DON'T READ IT AFTER DARK!
I loved this book, its the perfect guide to help understand the series more and why John Gregory acted so I believe its best to give this book a rating of 4 ½. Not five because its nearly IMPOSSIBLE for me to get totally involved with a book (That doesnt mean I didnt have my head in the story all day). Be careful, this book is meant to be read AFTER you have read the ENTIRE series. It might confuse you if you havent. The format of this book is your old fashioned guide of survival. It has topics
To the ReaderThis is both my chance to catch up, and learn some more about the world of the Spook stories before diving into the next Tom Ward book. I just finished "I Am Grimalkin" and it was alright. It could have been better. I do feel like this series has become a bit stretched, but I do love the world so that I only mind a little. There are still flashes of the brilliance that brought me into this series so ... I'll take what I can get. I don't expect to have many notes for this kind of

I liked this book because it is about one of the seven sons. The son goes on adventures killing bad spirits and creatures. The son talks and describes all the creatures had to fight against witches, demons, swamp people and so much other i cant remember what there name is.
A nice reminder of the series I loved while I was reading it.
Wow, really fun to get back into the world of the Wardstone Chronicles. In this small book you finally see the book that Master Gregory wrote for his students. It is full of beauteful illustrations and fun short-stories.Rating: 8/10
It's a very good book but it isn't anything like the stories. It's written and played out like a factual book but it's a nice touch to have a recreation of the book that is mentioned in the stories. Any Spooks lover would love this.

The Spook's Bestiary is John Gregory's guide to the dark. It is a must read for any spook apprentice and to my surprise an astonishingly good read. If you are familiar with the Wardstone Chronicles, then surely you would be familiar with the Spook's Bestiary which was mentioned quite a few times within the series. Upon finishing it, I was blown away. The book gives so much details on the dark. From binding boggarts, witches, to introducing the old gods to so much more.
