Chronicle To Books The Consumerist Manifesto Handbook: The Guerilla's Guide to Making Corporations Pay for Faulty Goods, Substandard Services, and Broken Promises
Consumers: rise up and demand your rights! This funny, irreverent, and informative guide exposes the many abuses committed by corporations against the modern consumer, urging readers to shake off the fog of learned helplessness and demand their money's worth from every transaction. Anti-corporate guerilla Charles Selden draws on his 40-plus years of experience revealing the extraordinary (and often hilarious) lengths to which companies will go to duck their responsibilities to consumers. Best of all, he shows how to recognize the signs of such “customer disservice” and capitalize on them, clearly outlining the tactics customers need to master in order to get what they paid for, every single time.

What a find. The Consumerist Manifesto Handbook is smart, funny, a great read and a terrific resource. What more could you want in a book dedicated to helping consumers traverse the rocky trail of customer injustices?Charles Seldens wonderful book has it all. Mr. Selden has created an easy to follow road map for all of us who have ever been unhappy with a purchase or a transaction or an interaction with a business or organization. The text reads like a blend between A Prairie Home Companion andAsking me what I think about my own book is like asking a mother what she thinks of her 5 months old child. But here you are: I particularly like the NOOK version because the comic illustrations really "pop." Allison Meierding did the cover you see above and over 40 really funny illustrations within. The book is a satirical description of what corporations do to consumers with a serious suggestion to readers to not just get angry, but get tangible compensation when corporations sell defective
Started out pretty good, had entertaining stories along the way, but then started to just drag out. The actual ideas and approaches did start until chapter 8, but even then was more entertaining then insightful. May going to some of the recommended websites will help more, but then why right the book? Why not just offer pamphlets or brochures you can call for?Still, it was interesting to read about what the author has gotten out of companies.......even if he doesn't really explain how or how
The book offered some interesting facts, such as new packaging also means cheaper. It also gave some useful advice, such as always keeping receipts, credit card slips, etc. But other then that, the book wasn't as helpful as I would have hoped. The author and his wife seem to have a taste for the finer things, such as shows at Lincoln Center and clothes at Bergdorf Goodman. Perhaps if they didn't have such expensive tastes they wouldn't be disappointed as much. Also, why I appreciate the author's
