GRRRRRRRRRR! This book was terrible. There was so much jibberish that wasn't even worth following along with. Then the moral of the story was you cant judge a person by their appearance because if you change their appearance and their attitude you can fall in love with them... Are you kidding how freaking shallow is that. Then you read his journal and find out how infatuated with this idea of her before he even gets to know her. C'mon thats creepy, but she still goes back to him because know hePROBABLY the best book I have ever read. I loved it from page one until the surprise, until the end. A movie was made from this book called "Don't Tell Her It's Me" with Steve Gutenberg, but they totally ruined the "surprise" in the movie, but I forgave them, because it would have been a little hard to film it.Anyway, highly recommend it. Sarah Bird is a TRUE TALENTI first read this book in 1991 when it came out in hardback and I have read it a few times since. My latest reading was this summer
the reason this book belongs in my confessional is due to the movie (which i have not even seen) and the phenomenon that is guttenburg! steve guttenburg in a mullet no less (be forewarned if you google the movie poster). he just had to go there and ruin it for me after-the-fact. i was having a blast reading this story - those who openly or secretly love their romance novels - would love the hilarious behind the scenes adventures of a romance novel writers convention. fun breezy and if you can
Light-hearted read that pokes fun of the romance genre while also poking fun of those who poke fun of the romance genre.
YOu need to read this before you go to the conference in Dallas. There is a great description by the protagonist, who starts out as a cynical outsider to the world of romance lit, and gets sucked in during the conference...
It was really weird to read this one now, with Austin being so different from when it was written and published. And yet it was nice to get reminders that the weather really hasn't changed. Or the water rationing. I had no idea that Sarah Bird had written romance novels. And it was really fun to read this having read some romance novels lately. I always enjoy reading about where I live, and the story was really cool and though-provoking, even though I figured out the twist ahead of time. I
Read this when I was in high school. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very fun!
