Article Of Books Rurouni Kenshin: Restoration, Vol. 1 (Rurouni Kenshin Restoration #1)
Being a huge fan of the original Kenshin series as well as the live action movie trilogy that prompred this two volume manga reboot, I was thrilled to see a new addition to the Kenshin universe. "Restoration" is essentially an alternate version of the beginning of the series. For someone like me who is already familiar with the world and characters, this is an entertaining addition to a series I love, although it doesn't reach the charme, humour and character development of the original version.

Rurouni Kenshin: Restoration is a parallel retelling of the original series. It has a lot of familiar faces and the relationships have the same feel, but there are also new characters introduced. It's like a smaller scale of American comics that have about ten different universes for a superhero. I haven't read the original manga, but I was a huge fan of the anime growing up. This has all the elements I remember throughly enjoying about the anime. Humor, action, great characters. I'm glad I

Good Anime and MangaLoved the series (both anime and manga,) and I when I heard that he, the author, was making an updated version, I knew I had to get it. Great so far and can't wait for the next volume.

As a passionate fan of the original manga, it was strange reading Restoration. It was like reading a fanfic written by the author, which has the promise to be fun (I don't mind alternate universes), but ultimately I just felt disappointed. It was as if Watsuki-san took advantage of the fact that most readers would already know the characters, and rushed through their introductions, and the reasons why they bonded together as a group. I feel badly for anyone picking this up as their first

This didn't grab me like the original series did.

This is a condensed version of the manga. It's really good! It seemed a bit rushed in a couple places, but that's to be expected, since it was condensed.
