The Grass Is Always Greener over the Septic Tank
***4.5 stars***This is my first time reading Erma Bombeck's book and I enjoyed it! She was an American humorist who found fame in the mid-1960s until late 1990s for her newspaper column. For a book that was written in 1976, I can honestly say that it was pretty funny. She writes about the perils, the ups and downs living in the suburbs, one that named Suburban Gems. It was pretty hilarious because they were spot on. I enjoyed her wit, dry sense of humor and that the language is clean. I will
Erma Bombeck was funny back in the seventies. From daily disasters, to bad life choices, to coming to grips with the radical changes in parenthood and social milieu, she covered it all with slight self-deprecating humor. Today, these same short stories are hilarious. Now that we all live in the suburbs (or have moved farther out to mini-farms or gone back to the sanity of City life) there is a touch of poignancy to these "Memoirs" of a slower, safer, more adventurous life. If you have watched

Erma Bombeck is a salve for my tired mind. When I cant settle down and read, I know I need a laugh. Erma always delivers.
I read this when I was in high school and didnt appreciate or understand Bombecks wit and wisdom to the full extent. This book looks back at the effect of things we take for granted like Barbie and Ken dolls, ride-on mowers and TV, on family life in suburbia - now that I am older and have owned a house in the burbs, I get the humour a lot more. An easy and enjoyable read.
Erma Bombeck made fun of the coming of suburbs and all the complications they brought in this funny book; for example: "Well, every time I push down the toaster, the garage door goes up. The hot-water heater is hooked up to the garden hose and I am sauteeing the lawn. The wall heats up when I turn on the porch light. The hall toilet does not accept tissue, and I have a sign on the front door reading, 'Out of Order! Please Use House Next Door.'" She also commented on the coming of house parties,

Interpretation Supposing Books The Grass Is Always Greener over the Septic Tank
I love Erma's books! While other kids were sneakily reading the latest issue of Batman or Archie & Veronica comic books between the pages of their schoolbooks during class I was trying not to get caught laughing too loudly at the pages of the latest book by humorist author Erma Bombeck. Its safe to say that I grew up with her books and her name, and stories, just like V.C. Andrews', another author I grew up reading, brings back a lot of good reading memories. Erma, and her writing, will be dearly missed. We lucky that she left behind a treasure trove of very funny writing in her wake for generations to enjoy.Itemize About Books The Grass Is Always Greener over the Septic Tank

Another of Bombeck's laugh out loud books... while her stories are mostly about funny things that happen when you're married with children (which I wasn't when reading them) her take on life really resonated with me. A very funny lady.***4.5 stars***This is my first time reading Erma Bombeck's book and I enjoyed it!
