Can science explain everything?

Many people think so. Science, and the technologies it has spawned, has delivered so much to the world: clean water; more food; better healthcare; longer life. And we live in a time of rapid scientific progress that holds enormous promise for many of the problems we face as humankind. So much so, in fact, that many see no need or use for religion and belief systems that offer us answers to the mysteries of our universe. Science has explained it, they assume. Science and religion just do not mix.

Oxford Maths Professor and Christian believer Prof. John Lennox offers a fresh way of thinking about science and Christianity that dispels the common misconceptions about both. He reveals that not only are they not opposed, but they can and must mix to give us a fuller understanding of the universe and the meaning of our existence.

Crit About Books Can Science Explain Everything?
Lennox moves from a philosophy of science to a historical apology for Christianity to an excellent presentation of the Gospel. I would recommend to those who are not yet Christians and Christians alike, really to anyone interested in science and/or Christianity. Concise, clear, easy to read, and short.

A handy little book that presents a logical approach to Christianity, and how science and faith CAN mix. It outlines some of the limitations of science and also encourages the reader to personally experience a faith in Christ. A good introduction and one that I would feel comfortable giving out to skeptics as well as people seeking more about the faith.

This is an exceptional book. John Lennox proves once again that he is an exceedingly talented writer and researcher. With conviction and skill he addresses many detailed questions around both the Christian faith, and science, providing a detailed rebuttal to the likes of Professor Dawkins as well as a compelling and intelligent argument for the existence of God.

This is a wonderful short book on the relationship between science and religion (Christianity). The selection of good referenced quotations are by themselves worth the purchase. The book reads very much like the author speaks, thus the book is very approachable and (for this type of topic) easy to read. However, the message has not been watered down, but has simply been communicated succinctly and well. The author is a Christian, so the book obviously is faithful to this viewpoint. With that

John Lennox is a voice in this much debated topic Can Science Explain Everything? Lennox addresses todays scientific and philosophical questions with the candor and brilliance. Excellent book from one who has debated Dawkins, Hitchens and Singer and speaks wisely and honestly out of experience.

This is the short, clear, faithful, persuasive book that I've always wanted someone to write about the relationship between Christianity and Science. The case is bolstered further by the fact that it's written by a former Oxford University Professor of Mathematics too - not an easy author to dismiss out of hand.My only minor quibble is that it ends too soon, and perhaps goes into the rational basis for Christianity too soon: I wanted more on the relationship between Christianity and Science.
