I couldn't really get into it. The whole book is in rhyme, and it was hard to focus. It didn't seem to let you get to know the characters very well.Great adventure story, and all told in rhyme! One of the few novels in verse that I've come across that was done in rhyme.
It's one of the loveliest books ever, and will always hold a special place in my heart. My DAD liked it, too. And that's saying a lot!

This is very childish. But an amazing light read. The ending puts a huge smile on ur face. Also the illustrations make it so much fun to read. It describes places in England like Plymouth and the bar macbride which are now on my must see list. And so is the bird the arctic tern. 😍Impactful.
Truly enchanting, a pleasant story by rhymes and certainly not trying hard. Just a cracking tale in verse.
this book is written entirely in poetry and it is about a voyage with a mystery twisted in. I love this book
What a beautiful looking book - hefty, solid, gorgeous. The illustrations are scratchy and detailed and wonderfully atmospheric, they remind me of Antony Maitlands work with Leon Garfield. I was also excited by the childrens novel in verse aspect and I always love a tale of curses and buccaneers. Unfortunately, I found the words to let the rest of the package down somewhat. I found the verse clumsy, with herky jerky metres that never quite settled into a pattern and a rhyme scheme that went for
