The Case of the Bizarre Bouquets (Enola Holmes #3)
Although this one was as easy to read as usual I did think some aspects of the background to the so called villains of the piece were far too horrific for younger readers, being disturbing enough even for those of us with hair with the fetching grey streaks.
These books are just fun. I keep reading them in a day, but they're built for speed and for entertainment. They're brilliant in their mysteries, foreshadowing, and characters. This one was no different. I look forward to the next.

This is the third book in the Enola Holmes Mystery series by Nancy Springer. Once our oldest got hooked on these stories, she read them at a pace that I could not match. I am woefully behind her, but making strides to keep up. Once again, Enola shows her pluck and spirit as she not only solves the mystery, but also evades her brothers, even in plain sight. Danger and despair seem to lurk around every corner in this dark, dank London of the late 1800s. But we love the brave young heroine and her
I love these books. Here are several reasons you will love these books for middle school readers. 1. They are short (all 7th graders want a short book). 2. They are written at a 7th grade reading level (Lexile 1000), which is really hard to find in today's fiction publications. 3. They are witty, clever and and remarkably well written.I can't wait to read book 4!
3.5 stars. Still a very charming series, all the more so because of it's dark edge. It always works that Enola is successful despite the large age difference between her and Sherlock because Sherlock overlooks the female arts. Would the "real" Sherlock have done that? Who knows? But this Sherlock is clearly characterized and consistent and it works that he wouldn't notice or take seriously things like the flowers in a bouquet, or the corset and bustle in the first book, etc. It gives Enola an
another great one. This had alot to do with disguises the "bad guys" needed and Enola ended up changing her disguise to a beautiful young woman. How people treated her differently due to this. Watson is kidnapped in this one.

Everyone knows Dr. Watson is Sherlock Holmes' right-hand man - so when he goes missing, it's a shock. Even Sherlock hasn't, well, the slightest clue as to where he could be. Enola is intrigued, but weary; she's still hiding from her older brothers - and getting involved could be disastrous. But when a bizarre bouquet shows up at the Watson residence, full of convolvulus, hawthorn, and white poppies, Enola must act. She dons her most discerning disguise yet to find the sender - and quickly, for Enola knows the blossoms symbolize death! Hold your breath, because Enola's about to take it away. The stakes are higher and the mystery deeper than ever before in this third installment of this Edgar Award nominated, critically acclaimed series.Describe Of Books The Case of the Bizarre Bouquets (Enola Holmes #3)

Third installment of the adventures of Enola Holmes. This series just gets stronger and stronger and I enjoyed this one very much. The sense of time and place is extremely well done and the pivotal feature of the the Victorian language of flowers was fascinating. Enola is a terrific feisty character and each of these books develops her character more.Although this one was as easy to read as usual I did think some aspects of the background to the so called villains of the piece were far too horrific for younger readers, being disturbing enough even for those of us with hair with the fetching grey streaks.
