Talk about depressing, this one has more stillbirths, miscarriages, deaths, and diseases, there's something horrible for everyone in this book. And, Nicki is such a great villain, he has not one single redeeming grace. Enjoyed every gruesome details.Loved the rich historical tapestry ..
Be prepared for a lot of heartbreak. Harrod-Eagles doesn't pull any punches. Morland Place is in for some major changes.

Entertaining and melodramatic as always. What a fun read.
I did not like this nearly as much as many of the other books in the series. In some ways it seems to be degenerating into something that resembles an historical soap opera. I hope the next book is better. Since I can't really say much about it without spoilers, I won't, other than to advise readers to begin the series at the beginning so they understand the relationships amongst the characters.
